Product Description

Eastman EB Solvent (Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether) offers numerous benefits in coating, ink, and cleaner applications. It is an excellent solvent for many coatings resin types, including alkyd, phenolic, maleic, epoxy, and nitrocellulose resins. It is an exceptional retarder solvent for lacquers, improving gloss and flow-out. Eastman™ EB Solvent is also widely used in amine-solubilized, water-based coatings because of its high flash point, complete water solubility, slow evaporation rate, low surface tension, and high coupling efficiency. This product is an effective coalescent that improves film integrity in both architectural and industrial maintenance latex paints. Its unique combination of properties enables the effective removal of contaminants when used in Industrial & Institutional and/or household cleaners.

On November 18, 2004, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) removed ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (EGBE) from the Clean Air Act (CAA) list of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP). Thus, EGBE is no longer subject to the Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT), residual risk and other specific requirements found in the CAA.

Eastman sells EGBE under the brand name Eastman™ EB Solvent.

The chemical substances for this product are listed as Inert Ingredients Permitted for Use in Nonfood Use Pesticide Products, and in Food Use Pesticide Products with limitations, under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA).
