Product Description
Eastman™ Ester Gum 15D-M kosher is a thermoplastic glycerol/pentaerythritol ester of gum rosin, produced by means of a steam stripping process that yields a low-odor and low color resin suitable for food ingredient application. All kosher products produced by Eastman are manufactured under rabbinical supervision in full accordance with Jewish dietary law.

Eastman™ Ester Gum 15D-M kosher is recommended for use as an ingredient in chewing gum which complies with the requirements and specifications established by FDA of the United States (FDA 21 CFR 172.615) and with the specifications for chewing gum resins of Europe (Food Chemical Codex edition V).

Compatibility and Solubility
Eastman™ Ester Gum 15D-M kosher is compatible in all proportions, or in limited but practically useful concentrations with SBR copolymers, polyvinyl acetate (PVA), polyisobutylene, natural and synthetic rubbers and waxes. It is soluble in esters, ketones, high molecular weight alcohol, and aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon solvents. It is insoluble in methanol, ethanol and water.

Packaging
Eastman™ Ester Gum 15D-M kosher is packaged in 25 kgs polyethylene bags in pastilles, shipped from Eastman''s facilities in Uruapan Michoacán in Mexico.

Storage
The resin is provided in pastilles which may fuse, block or lump under any of the following conditions: 1) in hot weather climate 2) if stored near steam pipes or other sources of heat; 3) upon prolonged storage; 4) storage in stacks more than three pallets high, or in any combination of these conditions. Storage at temperature above 30°C should be avoided as these conditions will greatly accelerate the fusion of the product. Inside storage in a temperature-controlled area is recommended in order to minimize product fusion.

Resins are prone to gradual oxidation, some more so than others. This could result in darkening and/or it could have an adverse affect on the solubility of the resin in organic solvents or in its compatibility with polymers. Accordingly, it is recommended that strict control of inventory be observed at all times, taking care that the oldest material is used first.

Eastman™ Ester Gum 15D-M kosher will remain within product specification limits as mentioned under the heading "Product Specifications", for a period of 1 year from production date and if storage conditions outlined in this data sheet are observed.

However, as we can neither anticipate the conditions under which the resin is processed nor the end use applications for which is used, we recommend that the material be tested upon receipt.
