4-ADPA is used as a chemical intermediate.

MAJOR APPLICATIONS AND PROPERTIES:

  • 4-ADPA, as a chemical intermediate, is used in the manufacture of aniline type dyes.
  • 4-ADPA may be used as an antioxidant in certain fuels and as a component in lubricant additives.
  • Antidegradants manufactured from 4-ADPA are used in both the rubber and fuels industry.

Handling Precautions
For detailed information on toxicological properties and handling precautions please refer to the current Safety Data Sheet. This information sheet can be downloaded from our web site or requested from the nearest Eastman office and should be consulted before handling this product.

Storage
For bulk storage, 4-ADPA should be maintained at 85-95°C under a nitrogen blanket. For shipment in isotanks, trucks and rail cars, 4-ADPA can be allowed to solidify. The container should be kept under a nitrogen blanket with enough initial pressure to avoid a vacuum from cooling and solidification of the 4-ADPA. Remelting of the 4-ADPA to 90°C can be done with either 40 psig or 3 barg steam and should be done with nitrogen blanketing supplied to the container. If it is desired to keep 4-ADPA molten during shipment, then the conditions above for bulk storage should be used.
