Product Description
Modern packaging formulations are expected to deliver stunning colors, high print throughput, flawless finishes, and durable graphics, all while protecting the safety of end-users. Eastman Solus™ 1225 performance additive, food contact, is designed to deliver on the high performance expectations required of ink and metal packaging formulations. This cellulose-based additive enables formulations with good resistance to UV discoloration, excellent hardness and anti-blocking properties in support of high production speeds. Solus™ 1225 food contact is well adapted for use in printing inks and overprint varnishes as a result of its wide solubility in relevant solvents, strong compatibility with other ink resins, desirable resistance to grease and oil, low odor properties, and high melting point. When Solus™ 1225 Food Contact is dissolved in appropriate solvents a clear, colorless solution is produced. Supplied as a dry free-flowing powder, this product is often used in combination with other Solus™ products to optimize the formulation viscosity.
Eastman Solus™ 1225 Food Contact is based on cellulose, one of Earth's most abundant natural renewable resources, with an approximate calculated bio-content value of 45%.
This product is manufactured, stored, handled and transported by Eastman under conditions adhering to current Good Manufacturing Practices for food contact applications. This product meets requirements for use in certain food contact applications under regulations of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (21 CFR), European Commission (Regulation 10/2011) and the Switzerland Ordinance of the FDHA on materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs (817.023.21, Annex 10). Contact your Eastman representative or authorized Eastman distributor for specific regulatory compliance documentation.
