Product Description
Pentalyn™ 780-M resin is a phenolic modified rosin ester, which offers very high viscosity and very low solubility in mineral oils. A partially gelled resin, it offers excellent pseudoplasticity even without the addition of gelling agents.

Pentalyn™ 780-M offers very fast anchorage, which makes it ideal for lithograph or offset inks in Quick-Set systems or as a modifying resin in Heat-Set and Flushing. Designed for modern high-speed printing equipment, it is also used in aromatic solvent-based rotogravure inks due to its high hardness.

Compatibility and Solubility
Compatible with vegetable oils, tall oil alkyd resins, hydrocarbons resins and other rosin based resins. This resin is partially soluble in mineral oils, soluble in aromatic solvents (Toluene, Xylene) and partially soluble in aliphatic solvents (Gas naphtha, gas solvent). It is insoluble in methanol, ethanol and water.

Packaging
Pentalyn™ 780-M is packaged in 25 kgs paper bags, in lumps, shipped from Eastman''s facilities in Uruapan Michoacán, Mexico.

Storage
Pentalyn™ 780-M may fuse, block or lump under any of the following conditions: 1) in hot weather climate 2) if stored near steam pipes or other sources of heat; 3) upon prolonged storage; 4) storage in stacks more than three pallets high, or in any combination of these conditions. Storage at temperature above 30°C should be avoided as these conditions will greatly accelerate the fusion of the product. Inside storage in a temperature-controlled area is recommended in order to minimize product fusion.

The large contact surface the pieces of resin present make them susceptible to gradual oxidation, which can be more advanced in some batches than others, this could result in darkening and/or it could have an adverse affect on the solubility of the resin in organic solvents or in its compatibility with polymers. Accordingly, it is recommended that strict control of inventory be observed at all times, taking care that the oldest material is used first.

Pentalyn™ 780-M will remain within product specification limits as mentioned under the heading "Product Specifications", for a period of 1 year from production date and if storage conditions outlined in this data sheet are observed.

However, as we can neither anticipate the conditions under which the resin is processed nor the end use applications for which is used, we recommend that the material be tested upon receipt.
