Product Description
To meet the challenges faced by metal packaging, from durability, to throughput, appearance and product protection, metal packaging coatings must be extremely robust and well-formulated. Eastman Solus™ 4000 performance additive, food contact, is designed to deliver on the high performance expectations required of metal packaging coatings, providing clear films, reduced surface tack and mottling, minimized cratering, strong inter-coat adhesion and good UV stability.
This cellulose ester enables lower solution viscosities with the lowest glass transition temperature (Tg) in the cellulose acetate butyrate portfolio, along with a relatively low molecular weight (M(n)) to support compatibility with other formulation components, including a wide range of cross-linking resins and curing resin systems. When dissolved in a wide variety of solvents and solvent combinations, a clear colorless solution is produced. Solus™ 4000, food contact, is available in pellet form. Eastman Solus™ 4000, food contact, is based on cellulose, one of Earth's most abundant natural renewable resources, with an approximate calculated bio-content value of over 35%.
This product is manufactured, stored, handled and transported by Eastman under conditions adhering to current Good Manufacturing Practices for food contact applications. They meet requirements for use in certain food contact applications under regulations of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (21 CFR), European Commission (Regulation 10/2011) and the Switzerland Ordinance of the FDHA on materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs (817.023.21, Annex 10). Contact your Eastman representative or authorized Eastman distributor for specific regulatory compliance documentation.
